A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

I am a freelance consultant who has raised $37 million for various nonprofits since 2010.

At the age of six, I wrote my first book about my favorite flavors of ice cream. Since that time, I planned on becoming some sort of writer. As an adult, I became passionate about having an impact in areas such as literacy, child welfare, and community leadership, so I was thrilled to realize that I could use my writing superpowers to help nonprofits support and expand their programs. With each grant that I successfully secure, I help change the world - one nutrition program, school library, or foster care mentoring program at a time.

I have been involved with fundraising and nonprofit work since 2003 and I began working as a Grant Writer in 2010. In the last 13 years, I have secured $32.6 million in government contracts and $1.3 million in private funding for various nonprofit programs through the formal grant application process, an additional $2.2 million at formal fundraising events, and $837,000 through fundraising campaigns.

MY APPROACH TO NONPROFIT FUNDRAISING

I work with organizations of all sizes.

While I tend to work with nonprofits that have annual budgets of $5 million or more, I also love to support grassroots organizations. If I offer a service that would benefit your organization but is priced outside of your current budget, let’s talk about how we can tailor that service to fit your needs.

I provide long-term support.

While you can hire some grant writers and designers on a project-by-project basis, I prefer to develop a long-term relationship with my clients and help you achieve your mission.

I take a storytelling approach to every project.

As a nonprofit leader, you are passionate about your mission and you are already good at telling others about your organization’s impact. But you may need help figuring out how to use those impact stories in grant proposals, social media posts, emails, blog posts, and website content to generate financial support. Having worked in the nonprofit sector for over a decade, I have helped dozens of nonprofit programs tell their story, boost their engagement with donors, and secure grant funding from private grantmakers.

SERVICES

GRANT WRITING
I am available to research private grantmakers and government funding sources, help your organization put together an application strategy and calendar, compose boilerplate and individual grant proposals, and compile documentation on behalf of 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofits.

DEVELOPMENT
Beyond grant writing, I can help your organization create and execute an overall fundraising strategy. I am available to design, launch, and support both traditional fundraising campaigns and online crowdfunding campaigns.

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS
I help my clients evaluate marketing strategies, then provide solutions to help you keep up with website maintenance, monthly emails, social media and community outreach. I emphasize storytelling in content for websites, email, social media and print to inspire donors and customers.

DESIGN & BRAND EXECUTION
I am available to create web and print materials for your organization, implementing your brand across platforms for messaging consistency.

More Testimonials

“I really appreciate the support that Lauren provided to our Parent Child Home Program for many years. She identified foundations that would be interested in our work and her grant proposals helped us get funding. When she wrote newsletter articles to promote the program, she interviewed several moms and she was always very sensitive. She got them to open up and tell their stories, which helped us communicate what we were doing to our donors.”

Carol Dysard, Coordinator, Rising Ground Parent-Child Home Program
